Home Health Care Veteran Benefits in Michigan

Compassionate Care Home Health Services would like to say thank you to all of the men and women who are currently serving or have served in the military.

We greatly appreciate your service and sacrifice!

Did you know that if you are a Veteran or the surviving spouse of a veteran you may qualify for benefits to help pay for home health care? Congress directed the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs to establish a program for eligible veterans and their surviving spouses to help pay for Assisted Living, Nursing Home Care, and Home Health Care.

To qualify for the Aid & Attendance benefit, the claimant must be certified by a doctor as needing assistance with their daily living activities, and must meet the asset and income requirement.

The Aid & Assistance Qualification regarding wartime service is as follows…

The Wartime Veteran must have:

  • Served 90 Consecutive days on active military duty
  • Received a better than dishonorable discharge
  • Served at least 1 day of active duty during a wartime period

The Surviving Spouse must:

  • Not have divorced the Veteran or remarried after the Veteran’s death

The National Association of Senior Veterans is a private non-profit organization that is not associated with any government agency that can assist you with applying for the Aid & Attendance Benefits and answer any questions you may have regarding this assistance. They provide services free of charge. There are 6 offices throughout Michigan located in Lapeer, Sterling Heights, Saginaw, Lansing, and Zeeland.
